I was browsing through Oasis today and I could not find any 1 credit courses such as yoga or weight training. Does Fordham have any sort of gym courses like that? If so, what category are they under?

SAT/ACT and GPA? Aug. 27th, 2007 @ 05:17 pm
lovestruckmessx

Hey everyone. For all of you who were accepted, what did you get on your SAT or ACT? Also what was your GPA? I'm applying this fall and my SAT score is a little lower than what I'd hoped. It's in the lower range of what Fordham is looking for. I just wanted to know if there was anyone else who had a really strong GPA, extra curriculars, etc but didn't have a SAT score and still got accepted? Thanks if any of you can help :)

Hello, I'm currently a junior in high school, and Fordham is basically my dream school, so you're gonna be seeing a lot of questions from me over the next two years.

sorry in advance.

Now, my first question is that I live in Florida, and my school down here requires that we have at least 40 community service hours to graduate, but a lot of people go above and beyond and get at least 250 for the silver chord.

First, do you guys have to do service hours in New York?
Second, how important is how many service hours you have for getting into Fordham?
like, do they look at that at all? will it help having a crazy bunch of hours?

Also, how important are extracurriculars?
I'm very active in my school's drama department, and because of that don't have time for basically any other clubs.

and finally, is it better to get Bs and Cs in APs or take the As in honors?

Sorry if these questions seem kind of... stupid, but these are the things my guidance counselor tells me, and i can't help but wonder if they're true for any college other than UCF/FSU/UF.. plus i'm kind of nervous about getting in since i'm from out of state.

Thanks in advance.

Is it really worth it? (financial stuff) Aug. 5th, 2007 @ 10:24 pm

Hey guys, I have a REALLLLY long story, so Ill try to keep it short. by the way Im Nathan from Texas.
I aplied, got accepted, then deffered my admission to fordham because I spent a year in japan as an exchange student (at a cost of $9,500 plus living expenses). Then when I got back (in march)after a couple of weeks I got my acceptance all straightened out with fordham.
In april I submiteed my Fafsa and waited 2 weeks before realizing fordham neede a CSS too, so seant that in. then around mid may I got some papers needing tax information from my dad, plus info from my non custodial parent (my mom). So I faxed her her papers, then got my dads taxes sent out.
I called fordham to check and see if they needed my moms taxes, and they said no. I called back the next day just to be sure, again no. Then my mom called (she lives in california) fordham about it and they said no. So she sent her non-custodial stuff in. Then I waited for 2 1/2 weeks before getting a letter saying they needed her taxes. So we got a little mad, but sent them in, and I called fordham to ask if there was ANYTHING else and they said no. So waited another 2 weeks before getting a letter saying my dad hadnt signed a tax form, so now mad we faxed that in 2 minutes, then called to see if THAT was all, and they said yes. So ANOTHER 2 weeks later got a letter saying they needed MY tax stuff (I earned $300 last year at mcdonalds) but I didnt do any taxes. And it would take mcdonalds at least 30 days to get my w-2s or whatever, so I called and said there was a mistake, and I didnt work last year, so they said that was fine.
Here is where I cut in to say I have a brother in college, and in a year my 2 younger sibblings will begin college. Plus the whole divorced parents thing, so my brother and I fly to california a couple times a year. And I got an offer from seton hall (private catholic school near newark) for $18,000 dollars a year.
So I didnt find out till early july that my offer was 3,500 bux in loans. So Id have more than 100,000 dolars in student loans, if I went to fordham. Then I sent a VERY agressive letter of reassesment. About 10 days later I got a call from fordham asking for the awards letter from seton hall, so I sent that the 18th of July and am still waiting.
SO now my questions are... Is Fordham REALLY worth all this? It would be a dream come true to go, but I just cat afford it. And also, how is fordham on giving out financial aid? Any advice would help too. so,sorry for the extremely long post and thanks in advance.

Hiya. I'm a commuter student at LC and I've never been in the dorms, but I'd like to start using the gym (I've heard it's kinda crappy, but I don't mind). Is it free to use? Also, are there locker rooms near it with showers? Sorry if these seem stupid, but the school I transferred from charged per semester and had no locker rooms. Thanks in advance.

Professor/Class Jun. 26th, 2007 @ 11:11 am

Has anyone had professor Barry-Figueroa's World Poverty class? I'm considering taking the class in the fall because the description sounded interesting to me, but the reviews I read on Rate My Professors were a little discouraging. I wonder if everyone is unanimous on professor Barry-Figueroa. I don't want to avoid taking this class because of reviews on a website, but she had almost all bad reviews. So was she confusing when you took her class? What was she like? And how are her exams?

Housing Jun. 20th, 2007 @ 05:10 pm

I'm going to Fordham (Rose Hill) in the Fall as a transfer... but there isn't anymore on-campus housing available! If I don't find anything before next month... I'm screwed. Please help me out... If I don't find a place... no Fordham for me :(

Class Rank May. 31st, 2007 @ 01:52 pm

Does anyone know how to check the individual class rank on Oasis? I was told that they were listed in the unofficial transcripts, but I cannot find it there. Is it possible that they haven't completed the rankings yet? This is not anything too important, I'm just curious. Please let me know if you can.

Thanks in advance.

Hi. The day after one of my finals, a NGR appeared in the slot next to that class for the grade on oasis. I figured it was too early to get the grade, but now I've gotten all my other grades and that NGR fails to change. Does this mean that my professor has yet to enter a grade, or that I should be worried? Thanks in advance.

Lincoln Center Job Question Apr. 14th, 2007 @ 06:46 pm

Hey all-
I'm a RH student who's going to be living at the Lincoln Center campus over summer. I've applied to a bunch of internships, but if I don't get any, I'd like to work on Campus. Can anyone tell me about the student jobs on Campus? Which are the best to apply for? Does working on Campus get you discounted housing? Also, are there evening jobs?
If anyone could help me out, that would be great!

Hello all-
I got accepted to the Lincoln Center campus a few weeks ago and will probably attend, majoring in Middle East studies. If anyone would like to e-mail me to tell me exactly what they think of Fordham, please do at itsok_iveoverstood@yahoo.com.

Other than that: What are the chances of me being able to do any theatre/dance stuff at Fordham if I'm not a theatre/dance major? Is their theatre ultra-competitive? I'm not thinking I'd be a lead in anything, but it would be nice to be involved in some way.

April Fools? Apr. 2nd, 2007 @ 12:02 am

I was reading the April Fools edition of the Ram (I don't think all of the articles we're jokes) and it said the Killers are coming to Spring Weekend.

Is it true that they are?

I got accepted at Fordham (@ Lincoln Center) and will most likely be going there next year.  I'm still not 100% sure that's what I should do and am wondering if anybody has anything to say to sway me one way or the other... Ups and downs, etc.

The other school that I'm currently looking at is Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. (That probably makes little difference to you, but if you happen to know anything about that school, feel free to include it.)

Thanks :-)

Need help with psych project Mar. 6th, 2007 @ 12:14 pm

Hey folks,

For a project for my psychology class, I need people to answer my online survey. I would be so grateful if you'd help me out! It's an online survey of entirely multiple choice questions that takes 10 to 20 minutes to answer. It's about family environment and self-perception, and you can answer it by clicking here.

Thanks so much!

Living in Manhattan?? Feb. 26th, 2007 @ 04:28 pm

Does anyone have experience attending class at Rose Hill and living in Manhattan??

Im a recent transfer into the CBA program and live right off campus in the bronx but other than when actually attending class, rarely ever find myself outta the big city.

I transfered from a school in Washington State so NYC is still a bit new to me. Can anyone offer advice or experience on the commute, the challenge of finding affordable housing (for Manhattan..Im not expecting to pay under 800 for a room...), etc.

Anything anyone knows would help me out a ton! Thanks
